I was so excited to scrap some recent beach photos and the summer photo challenge was the perfect motivation to do so! I've been so inspired by handmade accents these days...I think they add the perfect touch of whimsy and originality to a layout. I wanted to show you how simple it is to create your own with just a few supplies I know you have lying around. First off, here's my layout....
Use your misting box (to avoid getting mist all over the place. lol) and mist the coffee filter with 2 different colors to get the effect you want. I used orange and lemon to get a nice orange-y color.
After the coffee filter dries, take it and crimp all the way around the edges...
gathering it into the center creating a circular shape....
When you're finished, you'll have something like this...the center won't look so pretty, but that's okay, we're going to cover that up.
Use a circle punch to punch a circle from some orange patterned paper and adhere it to the center of your "sun".
To finish it off, I simply added some brads to the paper circle (see top layout photo). Now, you have a fun dimensional accent for your layout that was created with just minimal supplies! You could also use this idea to make flowers...I think several of these in different colors on a layout would look stunning! If you decide to try this simple technique out, link up your project here so I can be sure to check it out. Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend! :)
Love it so much!!!!!!
