Wow! 1st to post! I find the journaling hardest of all, but I think the sneak of this book shows a great idea of thinking how to tell someone about an event on the phone to give you an easier way to write it! Will give that a go!
I, too find journaling so hard - mine is usually so dry - just the facts. I would love some ideas to help jumpstart my creative juices and get them flowing!
I would love to have this book, I am not very good at adding journaling to my pages. I started scrapbooking when I was pregnant with my first daughter, and back then there weren't many design options or choices of product to purchase. I would love to learn creative ways to add my story and personality to my pages.
What a great giveaway, I would love this because not only do i need help feeling more confident about my journaling but more confident about how to fit my journaling into my layouts!
I would love this book. I have been trying to improve my journaling. I struggle with putting my feelings in writing and I am hoping that this book could give me some great tips on that.
WOW! Journaling is SOOOO hard! I usually state the facts and that's it. When I add emotions, it sounds so silly to me.....maybe this book will help me find a happy medium!!!
This is a fantastic giveaway!!!! Something that probably 90% of all scrappers have problems with! :P I have really been trying to work on doing more meaningful LOs, capturing more of the everyday of my daughter and our lives. But it is not easy! This book would be perfect for helping me to document more of my thoughts and what is really happening in the now. Thanks!!!
I am pretty good at just jotting down what I feel, and go with it. But it would be an inspiring item for me more than anything. Looking for ideas on how to tell a story a little differently. Thanks ladies!
One of my scrapping "goals" this year was to work on my journaling. Sadly...I'm not anywhere near where I want to be with this one. I think this book would be a huge jumpstart for me! Thanks for the chance to win!! :)
I believe a picture is worth 1,000 words, but in order for our great pics to be fully appreciated in future generations - we need great journaling. I would love a chance to win this book!
This book is for me because I've lost my creative writing sense. I've been working in the legal field for over 25 years and my journal is beginning to sound like a Non-Disclosure Agreement!
This book totally speaks to me! I put off my journaling projects probably because I tend to be a perfectionalist & a procrastinator...It has to be perfect or exactly the way I picture it in my mind & I end up never making all my ideas a reality. I guess I also take it for granted that I will remember every memory, every moment with my babies & family. I really just need to stop being my own worst enemy & dive in! I need to let my authentic voice come through! This book seems like a great tool to help me with that & give me some great inspiration!
I do need this book. I have lots of unfinished pages that have titles but no journaling. I actually didn't realize I was avoiding it so much. I used the excuse that we didn't have printer ink and that I'd get to it when I had the time. I would need to write it out first before using the new pen I've never used before to write it perfectly. No more excuses! It needs to get done. This book would help immensely. Thanks for the chance to win.
I am always at a loss for words and would love to have a book to help me with my journaling. I am do scrapbooking albums to leave to my granddaughters and journaling is probably the most important part of the layout.
I have the hardest time with journaling. I came up with a system that has been working better for me. When I have a lack of mojo, I sit down with my pics while watching tv and make notes or journal a bit about them. Thanks for the chance to win!
I find that I struggle to tell the entire story in a heartfelt way. When I start the journaling process on a page, I tend to tell the facts instead of the feelings and emotions. I'd love to have this book to help guide me through the process to show the real me on my pages.
Very, very cool giveaway! I'd love to be the lucky winner of the book from one of SC's very own! I'm sure this could really help kick my journaling to a new level. I need help with that. :)
I need serious help with journaling. I have made all kinds of layouts but I set them aside thinking that the words will come to mind at a later time. That really doesn't work because I forget that I need to journal.
My greatest downfall in scrapping is my journaling. I would love to know how to put a little more heart and soul into what I write. Thanks for the chance to learn!
Just like so many other scrapbookers, I can always use a little help with journaling. Sometimes it's SO hard to find a starting point! I'd love to win!
I always put words on every page I do. When I first started scraping 7years ago I didn't. When I look back on those first pages, they seem to be missing the most important part.
I am so bad about journaling, not to mention I think my handwriting is horrible. I end up putting off the journaling because I know I will have to get out the computer or typewriter to make it look nice and it seems like such a hassle.
Like everyone else, sometimes the journaling just doesn't seem to come easy. I want to say more than we just had a great time, can't wait to visit again etc. This is a great giveaway for anyone! My fingers are crossed!
Would love to have this book. I can't believe I was an English Major in college, and how it has not translated over to journaling for my LOs. Always a struggle!
I always struggle with journaling. I've been told that my journaling is meaningful but then I read something from Cathy Zielski or Ali Edwards that makes me feel inadequate!
Journaling is not my thing because I want to journal things that will talk about me when I'm gone, so not much journaling so far... Will be nice to be inspired on the matter!
Why is it women can talk about anything at a moments notice but when it comes to journalling its like the cat has our tongue? We all need a little prompting when it comes to journaling. Thanks so much, ms.cheryl
Because I recently discovered that I work story first, then photo then design layout. No wonder it took me forever to get started on a layout. Now that I figured this out my brain is a whirlwind of layout ideas starting with the story. I really need now to work on how to get the story out of my head and onto the page....help..
This would be a gem in my scrap library! I'd love to be able to have some help insuring my journalling is authentic and not what I think my English teacher would have written!! :) Karen P
I am such a fan of journaling on layouts. I think it's the best way to remember things sometimes and it makes those little moments all that more important.
I definitely could use a book like this to help me out with my journaling. I Love to take the pictures and get them down on the page and then I get stuck with the journaling parts. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway. I will take all the help I can get.
I wish I was a natural at journaling. I always make too many grammar and spelling mistakes. Someone has to proof my words for me. Sigh. I need all the encouragement I can get. :)
I love to journal [I find it therapeutic] ... since my dad passed away 5 years ago I realize the importance of attaching the stories to the special people in our lives. I would love to receive this book for inspiration & ideas!
I really neeeed this book! to me journaling is the hardest part. Not because i dont know what i want to say, but i never seem to be able to put it in the right words!kwim? really hope to win :)
To me the stories are far more interesting when looking back... I treasure my mother's little buget journal from her college days... as she didn't leave us any other writing. I want our children to know the family stories and events of a given year. Reminders of what they thought was important and what Andy and I thouht was important... and this would help me do that.
anytime I have a chance to improve my journaling my family will thank you...;) It is always wonderful to have a little something to jump start the creative process.....
Journaling is hard. I always leave it at the very last because I never know what I want to say. I try to find the words to say, but I either don't write enough or I write too much. I would love to get ideas/pointers, and I think this book would be just what I need!! Thanks for the chance to win!
Wow, would love a chance to get my hands on this book.. I love to journal and know how important it is but I feel like I say the same things all the time and need a big more depth, some pointers and helpers to make my pages meaningful to those who read them
I am a terrible, horrible, awful, pathetic, journaler. Is that how you spell it? I can't journal for anything. I love to scrapbook. Love to tell the story, because so many of my photos have a story. I need this book!
For the past three years I have been scrapbooking thirty years of collected family photos. I have some great photos and I am happy with my layouts, but a good many of these have open areas ready for the stories behind the photos. I would love to journal the wonderful stories for these layouts, but just can't seem to get my thoughts together. Glancing at this book looks like a step towards my dream of storybooking my family.
Journaling is hard but I really need it... I'm in a "change mood". My body needs all my feelings and thoughts to be out of my head ^-^ Journaling for a therapy and healthier way of life ;-) this is why this book is for me. To help me in this long transformation journey ;-)
I can't believe you're ginving away such a useful and interesting book! Of course I'd like to have to learn more and develop my poor journaling skills...
My favourite layouts are those where I have journaled the most. I'd love some fresh ideas to give my journaling a new twist. Thankyou for the chance to enter.
This book is for me because my intimidatin of journalling is what stops me from creating my scrapbook pages most of the time! I want to create fabulous pages to preserve my precious memories, but I don't know how or what to say... I need help!!!
I am a horrible journaler. I have all these thoughts about the photos when I start out, but then I come to the point where I am actually gonna write them down... they all seem mundane, boring or just over-the-top... I usually end up with two lines of text saying who, where & when... And that's it. I always think that's good enough, and that I'll remember... Silly me!
I think that telling the story is the most important element in scrapbooking. Would love to see how this book adds to the journalling techniques that I can try out on my pages!
I find my journaling is too dry...just the facts, and need to get more feelings into it especially when I scrap pics from 10 years ago! Have been thinking about how to do better so this book would be a great help! Thanks for the chance to win.
This looks like a great book! Journaling is the hardest part of this hobby...I always feel that what I write doesn't do my photos and the story justice.
i love journaling but that doesnt mean its easy. From all i have heard about this book i am sure it has loads to offer - not to mention its full of Michelle's awesome skills. Thanks for the chance to win it. - hera
wow, I need this book desperately!!! sometimes I finish a great page and then am just completely stuck with what to say!! I saw this in Michaels and love the way its set up... such a great resource!!
I DESPERATELY NEED this book! Journaling is something I have struggled with since I started scrapbooking. The first 20+ pages I ever did have blank journaling spaces because I can never decide what to write or how to write it. I am a perfectionist and just can't get myself to let go and do it. This book, in looking at the sneak peek, would force me to just sit down and do it! Thanks for the opportunity to win this book about the most important part of scrapping - preserving the memories by telling the stories.
Seriously, I need this book, I'm bad in journally, I would say 90% of my LOs are without journalling. And If I get this, it will definitely be the best birthday present for me!
I would love that book. Journaling is the hardest part of scrapbooking for me. I try to keep it real but it still manages to come out sounding corny. Thanks for the opportunity to win a little gifty!
A lot of times journaling is kind of an afterthought for me. I feel it is important to "tell the story" and would love getting a little extra help in that department!
I've discovered that it's the story in the end that matters most. I didn't follow through with that the first few years I scrapped--it was mostly about the pictures and I thought that would prompt the memory. But I've learned writing down the memory is just as important. Since I came to this hobby late, I have 20+ years of stories to tell (not that I expect to ever finish!) so I could really use this book.
My youngest son just graduated last week and we had his open house last night. As I gathered photos for a display I realized how my heart just filled with all these thoughts and memories....and how quickly time flies. I would love to journal these things while it's all still fresh, but sometimes it seems so hard and I just don't know where to start. I'd love a copy of this book! :)
This book would be great to have because for me ... the pages I make are to tell a story. I like that more than the traditional event-type pages. Would love to have this book as a resource/tool for telling my stories! Beth Ann
thanks guys :) i would love to tell my story in new ways, think outside my normal box and create more memorable thoughts, feelings and journaling on each page... i really hope i win...lol :)
I've been trying more and more to do meaningful journaling and also to leave more info behind about myself. I think my kids (at least my girl) will appreciate it someday. I already journal quite a bit about them!
I'd love to learn new ways to tell my story. I usually stick to the 5 W's - I'd like to write a little more creatively. Thanks for the chance to learn how.
I love the words and the history.... of us! and I write when I can....! Then..... this book is just perfect idea! biz bizzzzzzzzz and thank's for the giveaway!
I'm always looking for better ways to write my words down on my layouts, better ways to journal and this book looks like it would help me in this area!
I think this book is a treasure you can look into again and again and again, for inspiration. This would be great to receive... crossing fingers asalara Iceland
I'd like to learn new ways to tell my story. My favorite layouts are the ones with my children's journaling when they were little - the things that they noticed and what was important to them. I'd like to write as transparent as they do.
I would love this book! I need to win because I could use a pick me up...it's been a hard 2 months with work drama, sick kids, job issues for hubby, etc...plus I love this blog!!! Amy in CA
i love journaling, and i think it is what truly makes the page, because it is the story behind the photo, and i think with only a photo on a page, it's not really anything at all, but with a story it is something big! Thanks Megan P
As an editor, I am really good at wording things when it comes to work, but I always get stuck when I am trying to express something that's very personal to me. I'd love to learn new angles and techniques to think out of the box when it comes to journaling in my scrapbooks.
Wow! 1st to post!

ReplyDeleteI am a horrible journaler. I have all these thoughts about the photos when I start out, but then I come to the point where I am actually gonna write them down... they all seem mundane, boring or just over-the-top... I usually end up with two lines of text saying who, where & when... And that's it. I always think that's good enough, and that I'll remember... Silly me!

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great book! Journaling is the hardest part of this hobby...I always feel that what I write doesn't do my photos and the story justice.
ReplyDeleteJournaling is most definitely my downfall! Any help I could get would be fantastic!

ReplyDeleteI always have problem with journalling so would really love to have this book! :-)
ReplyDeleteAside from the photos, the journaling is the next important thing. Any help in telling my story would be great!

A lot of times journaling is kind of an afterthought for me. I feel it is important to "tell the story" and would love getting a little extra help in that department!
ReplyDeleteI can do the who, what , when, where and why but that's all. I'd like to learn different, creative ways to tell my story. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI've discovered that it's the story in the end that matters most.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the journaling is the hardest part, well, the hardest if you're looking for some creative, heartfelt and fun journaling!

As I gathered photos for a display I realized how my heart just filled with all these thoughts and memories....and how quickly time flies.
