My favorite Thanksgiving dish is the pumpkin pie- can't decide which is better, though...the pie or the whipped topping on the pie!

ReplyDeleteWell since I am just a walking "carb" I would have to say the crust of the pumpkin pie :) Thanksgiving is the only day that I indulge in this but I'll take it from anyones plate if they're not careful! My hubby knows to just save his crust for me. What a guy!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dish is my Gran's dumplings. She is no longer with us, but my mom tries and tries every year to perfect the recipe. It's close to Gran's but not quite there. It must have been her extra touch of love she put in there for her family. My mom does make the best pumpkin pie on Earth, though!

I love my pumpkin dip -- 2 bricks of cream cheese, 16 oz of powdered sugar, a can of pumpkin and some nutmeg and cinnamon. I serve it with apples so that I can tell myself it's not all bad!!!

ReplyDeleteFunny, but even if we live all the way here in the Philippines we still celebrate Thanksgiving, complete with Turkey and sides. As I am also half Chinese, along side the traditional dinner are the chinese fare too. So i would say my fave would be the stuffing and cranberry paired with chinese steamed fish and crabs. Wierd but yummy ;-)

ReplyDeleteI don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but I have many things to be thankful for. I love Roast Chicken made by me, heehee. Just rub olive oil, and then a mix of rosemary, thyme, sage and garlic. Put the mix inside the chicken too. Then roast. Healthy and yummy!

Homemade Mashed Potatoes and Brown Gravy. Has to be unadulterated potatoes though. Just butter, cream and potatoes. No sour cream, no cheese, no chives, no garlic (all the things MiL puts into her mashed potatoes!)- I could eat my weight in fluffy buttery mashed potatoes! Mmmmmm... just a few more hours! : )

ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Norway. Too bad, because it is a really nice and meaningful tradition! But we always have turkey on New Years Eve, and I love it! So I guess my favorite at Thanksgiving would be the turkey :D.

ReplyDeleteBefore she died I wrote the recipe on a napkin but then lost it in a move. Still very sad about that.. They were so good and I've yet to find a recipe that comes close.

We dont have Thanksgiving here in New Zealand, but we are in my family starting our own tradition of having a dinner in Dec to say Thank you to the people who have meant something special to us in the past year. On the menu would have to be Pavlova with cream and strwberries on top....mmmmmmm :-)

ReplyDeleteThorne's Secret Stuffing (That's not much of a secret anymore). My best friend and I used to live only 11 miles apart and now we live three states apart. Her dad's stuffing is the best. We call eachother every year on the wednesday before Thanksgiving and discuss what we are cooking. I miss her so and I hope she sees this post, because she is the one who referred me to Studio Calico!

As a vegetarian, I love my plate full of side dishes! I'm particularly fond of anything with sweet potatoes or squash! YUM!

ReplyDeleteI have two favorites (I hope that isn't a problem)! I have had my grandmother's jello salad and broccoli casserole every single Thanksgiving since I was a baby! They are Thanksgiving staples in my family and we never do a Thanksgiving without them! And Besides they are soooo delicious you can't even believe it :) Thanks for the giveaway!!! ~Amy
ReplyDeleteI live in México, so we don't celebrate thanksgiving as you, but we have a family recipe for this kind of celebrations like Christmas for example, it's called "Horneado de Oaxaca", it consist in a turkey stuffed with a mix of vegetables, mustard, cream, vinegar and many spices, it's so delicious! I really love it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dish is definitely cornbread stuffing. Sometimes I cut up some granny smith apples and saute them with the celery and onions. Mmmmm good.
