milkcan:I'm a big milkcan fan. love how she worked the Anthology line.

magnard: ever see a layout that knocks you back and makes you think dannnnggg....that's a cool layout. this was it for me. The home paper is my favorite out of the Home Front line. She used it beautifully.

this layout is just visually pleasing. I love a layout that makes me look at everything.

aprice3: I think this is just cute and simple but packs a punch with the big lettering for the title.


divineyuko: this immediately put a big smile on my face. love how she created her own banner.

Tuesday Inspiration : Heather Bailey

Hello everyone!
Lately I've been so much inspired by Heather Bailey, her fabric and her photography. It makes me wanna dig into my most colorful papers, fabric and embellishments and scrap!
Heather Bailey has been a very talented designer for years and has a very active blog where you can admire her latest creations fabric related and her amazing photographs.

Monday Challenge

This week's challenge will be an easy one.

Make a card, and give it some one.
This is something I haven't done in a really long time and I miss it.
A friend recently moved into her first home and I thought the Home Front line would make a perfect card for her.

Post your cards to the gallery by Friday and we'll choose a winner by Saturday morning.

Sunday Sketch

This week's sketch is based on a layout by Susan Weinroth. I love it for so many reasons, but mainly because it has circles in the shape of a grid. It's a simple sketch to follow and you can fill the circles with as many or few photos as you'd like.


Notice how Susan used 2 different sized circle punches to add visual interest. The punches are approximately 1.5" and 1", but you can vary the size according to the supplies you have on hand. Also, Susan added a butterfly punch with some rhinestones to mimic the Jenni Bowlin pre-made butterflies as in her title area.

Banner-ific!

Hi everyone! Susan here, with a quick Saturday night post...

While perusing the SC gallery this week, I kept being drawn to layouts that incorporated banners of some sort on them... And so I thought it would be fun to post some of my fave "banner-style" layouts from the week. Here they are!

*Powder Meadows - by AlissaG - I love LOVE the aqua painted chipboard banner pieces that Alissa stretched across her page in order to display her title. The aqua color really pops on this background and is the perfect compliment to this snowy pic!


*BabyGap - by jbarksdale - How CUUUUUTE is this page?! I mean REALLY!?!?!? I absolutely adore it - can you tell?? :) And I think the "photo square banner" is pure genius! Such a cute use of this stamp set too, i might add...

*Blossom - by glenys - The super-simple pastel-ly spring-colored banner at the top of this page accents the gorgoeus photos in the nicest way. I love the way the colors of the banner help to tie in all page elements - including the fun flowers trimmed from the Dear Lizzy American Crafts paper at the bottom of the page!

*Long and Lean - by j.leija - I think that this page is brilliant! LOVE love the unexpexted tape measure style "banner" stretching across the page. It really does a great job to both add a pop of color to the chocolate brown background, and also to reinforce the theme of the page!

Member Inspiration!

Today is the day we would normally post a Member Spotlight...but how could I choose just one person when the gallery is hopping with amazing art? Selfishly, I decided to show you what PennyS, howdee and dismommy came up with for the Decor Challenge. I am completely enthralled by their collective re-purposing--complete inspiration!!

howdee came up with this fabulous use for an SC paper bag. View it in the gallery here. If this doesn't inspire you to make use of those bags, I don't know what will!
dismommy really came up with some smart finds to put together this fabulous note board. I love how bright, happy and useful it is. The re-purposed scrabble tiles are the best! See her notes & comment on this project here.PennyS posted this beauty and I found myself wanting to break out the glue gun and make flowers! I love that her board will be inspirational to her family on a daily basis. Clever!! Give her some props in the gallery here.


Kudos to all three of you for taking the challenge & re-purposing 'junk' into useful treasures! If you'd like to participate in the challenge, there's still time. Remember, it doesn't have to take you days--quick and easy can have great results! Happy Friday!

Insider Tips!

hi Everyone! Susan here today, and I wanted to take a minute to explain a little bit about one of my favorite layouts from this month's Joyland kit...

The layout was entitled "Your First Year"...


And it was about my son Evan's first year. ;)

I used the K&Co photo frames in the main Joyland kit, to display a range of photos that spanned the course of his first year - this was a great way to include lots of favorites on a single page!

Since these were "faux" photo-strips, I needed to re-size all of these favorite photos to fit into the backside of the frame strips. I measured the opening of the frame and then set the crop parameters in my Photoshop program to slightly larger than the opening and cropped each photo to fit the frame. Since these were small image sizes, I was able to arrange a few of each onto a blank 4x6 document in Photoshop, and then economically print 4x6's from Costco (my local "everyday" printer of choice). I trimmed the photo from the 4x6 and adhered to the backside of each strip. LOOOOOVE the look & effect of these "faux" photo-strips!

Three large circles cut from coordinating patterned papers and arranged around the page, help to "anchor" each of my three photo-strips.


They are accented by smaller punched circles and butterflies... Two of my favorite punch shapes to add to my layouts!

I used the Corner & Edge Crown Punch to create a horizontal border and dividing point along the bottom portion of my page. It also provided a place for me to stash part of my title.

A quick journaling strip at the bottom of the page helps to explain what the page is about - but really the photos are the stars of the page that tell the story (when combined with the title!).
