Fashion Inspiration

Hi everyone, it's Kelly Purkey here! When Kelly Noel + I were brainstorming up themes for our blog week, I knew we'd be perfect for a fashion inspiration week since we're both girls that love to shop. I wanted to share some fashion inspiration today from a couple of my favorite sources.

I love the GAP website because their lines often have bright colors and fun combinations. I found this cute little boy's sweater... I never would have thought to put grey in with orange + brown but it looks fabulous.I also really liked the homepage for GAP. I could see a cool design for a page using this as inspiration. Maybe frames made from the polaroid stamp in the On the Easel kit!

I also found this cute top on the Banana Republic site (don't you love how easily they're all linked at the top of the GAP/ON/Banana websites?!!) and thought it would be a fun idea for layered punched circles.One of my favorite places to shop is J.Crew and they always inspire me with the color combinations they come up with. I loved this green, tan, dark grey, and light blue combo... it would be perfect for some winter photos.
I found this page in a recent J.Crew catalog and the colors that they listed for the coat caught my eye.
I whipped up a quick page using a dark green, dark blue, taupe, dark orange, and plum inspired by the colors listed...
Hope this gives you some ideas for finding and using fashion inspiration. Can't wait to see what you all come up with for the challenge!

Outside Inspiration + Bonus Challenge

Yes, you read that right! I have a bonus challenge for you this week! It's gonna be fun, I promise :)

Here's my take :)

This layout makes me smile, wholeheartedly. That photo, wasn't even perfect. They were busy spinning at the playground, didn't wanna stop, didn't wanna pose for mommy. *sigh* My babies.

I used kraft cardstock + white flower to mimic the tan purse. Then I stamped my title in many colors just like the graphic print. I added some 'me'~ness with the subtle misting, jute, punched butterfly, tiny attacher, tim holtz memo pins and Studio Calico Rub Ons - the alphabet border.

Now it's your turn to be inspired.

Food Glorious Food!

Hi everyone :)

if you know me at all, you would know that I love food. Love. Adore. So today, I'm gonna share some food photos to inspire you. Beautiful food. Gorgeous in fact.

This is seriously good. I could eat Annie's Shrimp Scampi everyday and I won't mind. *grins* Oh, i love shrimp, just a useless bit of information :)



Margarita Jello, anyone? *sigh* I don't even 'drink' but right now, I'm thinking of a clean, white-ish layout with splatters of Lime and Avocado mist.

Color "Inspo"

hi Everyone!

It's Susan here today ;) - and I thought I'd share one of my favorite sources for color inspiration... Flickr.

Color is such a BIG part of my creative process. Anytime that I'm starting a crafting project, and at a loss for a new color combo (or even if I just need a bit of change to switch up colors that I've been dwelling on) I love to look back through the "Favorite" photos that I've bookmarked on Flickr.

maps & globes : outside inspiration

Hi everyone! I'm continuing with our travel theme today, and in honor of my very most favorite Documentary pattern, Jet Set, I'm bringing you some map and globe themed inspiration. Vintage maps and globes are a hot item lately - they are popping up on home decor and craft websites right and left. Here's a few of my favorites from around the internet.

I would LOVE a vintage school map for one of my boys' rooms. They are a great timeless piece, and I love the soft colors. This one is in a workroom - it definitely steals the show as a decor piece.

This would make a cute framed project - and instead of doing a TTV photo of a map or globe, you could grab some patterned paper or a vintage map and use Studio Calico's TTV rubon set. This would make a fun gift - just find a map of a significant place in a person's life to personalize it.

LOVE. I might like this wall even more than the vintage school map idea... just buying a bunch of maps and using wallpaper paste to attach them to the wall. Layered bits of vintage maps would make a fun background for a travel themed scrapbook page.

Vintage globes, all in a row. I picked up one vintage globe at a flea market last year - it's on Alex's bookshelf. I'd love to get more!

This is on my "gotta try it" list - I'm planning to do stars, though. Perfect for Alex and Ben's room.

And finally - a butterfly punch meets vintage maps. That's a happy combo, isn't it? It would be fun to do these in a mix of sizes as a page accent.
